Nursery Tour

I can't decide which is worse...the fact that Sadie is 6 1/2 months old and I am just now posting pictures of her room, or the fact that Sadie is 6 1/2 months old and has never spent longer than 15 minutes in her room.  Either way I am finally posting a tour! Maybe this is the first step to getting her in there....or maybe not :) Anywayssss it is really hard to take pictures of her room because of the window placement (I mean really, what were those builders thinking?!).  So the colors are really off, but here are the best shots I could get....

these frames were a gift from my good friend to use at the baby shower, but they are perfect for her room!

um, does she have enough clothes?

or shoes?!

or socks?? :)

some old little trinkets and some new...

probably my favorite room accessory

I begged for this chandelier for months, the shop finally agreed, then changed their minds, then changed it again....it was finally installed while I was in labor :)
I LOVE Sadie's room.  Which is somewhat shocking considering we spend so little time in there.  Every detail is just exactly how I envisioned it.  The crib and changing table were mine (and my brothers and my cousins....).  They both got a new paint job and brand new parts and look amazing.  I decided to take off her closet doors because the room is super tiny and I thought it opened it up a lot (plus baby girl clothes are practically decorations!).  The chair, side table, chandelier and window hanging are from our favorite antique shop in Old Town.  I searched high and low for the perfect bedding and found some online (babybedding.com) that was the perfect combination of adorable and classic like I was envisioning.  I could go on and on about every little detail, because I thought about each one (pregnancy made me a tad neurotic...), but I won't bore you with all the details.  I will tell you it's my favorite room in the house and I plan on keeping it all up until she moves out when she is thirty (give or a take a few years).

Six Months Old

Weight: Sadie weighed in at 13 lbs. 6.6 oz at her 6 month check-up.  However, she had a major blowout right when we got to the doctors, so I'm sure that shaved off a few ounces ;)

Height: She is 24 inches long.  She is in the 3rd percentile for height, 8th percentile for weight, and 45th percentile for head size!

Nicknames: Sadie babe, Sadie Baby, Sade, Peanut, Pooper, Stinker, Sweet Girl, Terk, Roczen, Pistachio, Sadie Bear, "Savie", Stink Butt (I noticed she has quite a few nicknames about stinking up the place....I will be sure to remind her of this when she brings home her first boyfriend, kidding!)

Eating: Well we did it! We made it 6 months exclusively breastfeeding! That was my personal goal that I made while still pregnant.  It hasn't been easy, but I am so glad we have been able to stick it out.  I don't plan on stopping any time soon, in fact my new goal is to make it to her due date with of course the addition of solids.  This month we finally got rid of the shield.  I pretty much gave up on the idea, but like usual, Sadie had other plans.  She pretty much refused to nurse if it was on, so I had no choice.  She did spit up much more than usual for the first few weeks, and she still gags/chokes now and then when it comes out too fast, but oh.my.goodness it is so much easier not having to worry about that darn shield! Without the shield, Sadie is a much more efficient nurser.  She averages about five minutes every 2-3 hours.  Night feedings she will go a little longer, and some daytime feedings will only last about 3-4 minutes.  Sadie is still a very distracted nurser! The best feedings we have are literally right when she wakes up and she is still out of it :)

Sleeping: Well this is a sore subject! What happened to our awesome sleeper?!!! She all but disappeared this past month.  Part of the reason is we stopped swaddling her to get ready to transition out of the rock n' play.  Now she will go down about 8:30-9pm and want to eat about 3-5am.  Usually with a few wake-ups during that time.  It doesn't seem like that big of a difference when you look at the numbers, but when you look at the bags under our eyes, it all becomes clear:  We miss sleep!  Sadie has gotten much better about napping, as long as she is in her swing.  I am sure it is an awful habit, but I don't care if I have to send that darn thing with her to college.  I just don't have the patience for forcing the crib napping and she has been taking daily 2 hour naps in the swing.  Sorry I'm not sorry :)

15 minute cat nap in her crib...

naughty face...

Diapers/Clothes: She is still in size 2.  She wears mainly 3 month clothing.  She can wear some 0-3 month, but not the pants because of her beer belly :)

waiting for shots :(

Social: Sadie started really giggling this month, and to say it is awesome is an understatement.  She has also started with the stranger anxiety.  If she doesn't know you, there is a good chance she might scream.... unless you do something that she really likes or hold her out so she can't see you.

Likes: bath time (especially splashing!), tummy time, being silly (fake coughing), Sophie, her butterfly, watching the animals play, TV (addict!), her daddy being silly, standing up, sitting up, her jumparoo, her hands (or yours), my hair (unfortunately) and being outside.

Dislikes: getting out of the bath, riding in the backseat by herself, and pooping apparently....all these are the same this month! Plus now she also hates getting her face wiped.

Mommy: I met with the specialist this month and I really like her.  She scheduled some testing to collect more information before my surgery.  It was pretty much the worst, I got really sick from both tests :(  I even ended my barfing streak (5 years and going strong!).  Anyways, the tests confirmed I have a very large wall in my uterus.  I will go in for surgery next month, so hopefully everything goes well and we can put all of this behind us *fingers crossed*

Daddy: Sadie loves her daddy! She thinks he is hysterical and smiles every time he gets home.
Furbabies: Sadie officially discovered we have pets this month.  She LOVES the animals now! She cracks up watching the puppies play and loves when they give her kisses.  She is also mesmerized by the cat, especially when he gives himself a bath.  Speaking of the cat, Dunphy finally figured out how to get in the crib.  At least someone naps in there!
What we are looking forward to:  Spring Break! A whole week with our daddy all to ourselves :)  And most likely trying solids!
